his historic building is called The Faculty House. It was built in 1921 by faculty and students and is located right in the middle of WKU campus. Since there was no maintenence work done for a while, it really needed proper attention. We chemically cleaned the exterior, applied a finish to protect the wood and replaced 150 linear feet of decayed logs. Since it was originally chinked wiht traditional mortar, there was a lot of damaged chinking that needed to be replaced to stop further damage. Once WKU approved the budget for the chinking, we came back a year later. All of the mortar chinking was completely removed inside and out. We replaced more decayed logs that were found during the progress of working on the building. Several strongbacks were installed to support and straighten structurally unsound walls. Log joints were cleaned up to assure proper adhesion of new chinking. Once we finished installing backer rod, the building was chinked. This project took a total of 8 weeks to accomplish and 170 pails of Permachink's chinking.
